GLOBAL ABS CONFERENCE 2020
Session 2
ABS for Users I: A Dialogue between Governments and Researchers
4 November 2020
This session gathers governments and researchers to exchange experiences and challenges to fill the gap between present ABS implementation and the ABS we all need.
Description
How can scientists, as key users of genetic resources, be involved in policy making on access and benefit sharing and fully comply with the principles of the Nagoya Protocol? These three regional sessions gathered governments and researchers to exchange experiences and challenges to fill the gap between present ABS implementation and the ABS we all need.
Structure
Each session, national competent authorities and researchers presented two regional case studies, followed by a panel that addressed short questions on scientific emerging issues (i.e. DSI and pathogens) and the need and opportunities to address them. The sessions concluded with a Q&A and debate.
